It is reasonable to suppose that , when an individual is responding to a situation, his various judgments concerning it do not exist independently for him, but that they affect each other. We may suppose that underlying each expressed judgment and controlling it, there is a general attitude of friendliness or hostility, of acceptance or rejection.
